Hi folks, I'm still trying to fix my headlight because it failed the MOT with no light working on the right hand driver side.
So headlight doesn't work on either dipped or beam.
I have checked the fuses and they are fine.
I have also pulled the headlight out and I am getting power to the socket inside the wing that the headlight plugs into .
So when I switch the headlights on and switch between dip then beam I get 12 volts on my test meter in the same connections in the socket as I do on the left hand side where the headlight works fine.
Which then suggests that either the contacts between the headlight plug and the socket in the wing aren't working or the plug is not locating correctly. I have cleaned the connections with contact cleaner on both the plug and the socket and I've located the headlights several times and it seems to ease into the socket correctly but obviously can't see it to be sure.
The socket in the wing moves around a lot in its holder but the sockets on both sides do that and I always assumed it was to help it locate correctly by having freedom of movement?
It's certainly feels like the headlight is locating correctly.
Does anyone know how to remove the socket in the wing from its holder because it would be useful if I could pull it out the front of the wing and plug it into the headlight plug manually to check all the connections.
Photos of the front and rear of the socket in the wing are attached. Like I say this socket moves around very freely in this holder but I can't work out how to remove it and I don't want to damage it or break the holder.
