Gixxer996 take 2

Minor update- received my CoC from Porsche Germany and after notifying tfl the car is ULEZ compliant. Not that I plan to use it within the zone, but thought it a good idea to have it done.

I am doing a little interior tidy up. Nothing drastic as I don't think it requires it. Mainly just a tidy up of the most worn areas. I have taken the centre console out whilst adding one of Alex's SSKs.

Given the whole thing a machine polish- will apply some wax before refitting.... this then spiralled into more work.IMG_1320.jpeg

IMG_1321.jpegThe ash tray surround and switch piece both had a chip in each.
So I had some paint matched and have re sprayed them. Awaiting the lacquer to cure before hitting these with the polisher too.

Now the worst bit- the gear knob looked the worst of the entire interior with scratches all over it.

This is now separated and I'm refinishing it as we speak- hopefully the outcome will be worth the effort.

Showed the leather some love with a drop of leather soap.

I am not sure if it's worth doing yet but has anyone successfully separated the handbrake aluminium section to refinish it? I haven't taken it out yet but can't obviously see how to separate the leather from the ally?

Well the gear knob came out great! Before and after shown. I'm on the lookout for some tired examples of these tequipment gearknob and handbrakes to restore as I quite enjoyed it- let me know if you have any for sale!

Haven't posted many pics of the outside of the car since I bought it.

So after a wash and wax today here she is. Although it was very sunny today so had to adjust the pic to remove some of the glare.

You will notice I have added a set of Litronic headlights £££ to improve visibility at night - they are still poor compared to my new cars but a huge improvement over the halogens.

There aren't any changes I really want to do astehtically as I prefer an OE car (or close to it).

The only things I'm tempted to do is lower it slightly and possibly grab some cheap winter wheels to save the mint sport classics in poorer weather (although it is normally stored through winter).

Very nice, is the top of the knob bare metal?
If so I'm wondering if it might corrode, I had this happen with a Momo knob in a previous car as my hands tend to get a bit sweaty when on it!

You might be right - time will tell. Easy enough to re polish if it does and ceramic coat or maybe lacquer if needed. Will keep an eye on it and address as needed.
