does anyone know if the pictured gear shift cable collars are available anywhere? one of the clips or tangs on the reverse of the one show has broken which means after a few shifts collar moves and the shifting becomes tricky and vague for first and reverse.

I've got an old set you can have but I'm not sure if you can retro fit them, I've a feeling they're assembled in order at the factory and you can't replace any of the parts but I might be wrong.

I'd just get the old Araldite out. Bit of creating thinking and you can strengthen them up with something as well as gluing them.

I've just replaced the cables on my 98 because 2nd was a disaster and the new ones are like night and day , don't ask me why but they are.I used the alignment tool to fit them as well. I got them off ebay brand new for £230 (from an individual) ..I got lucky.

Just changed my shift cables, managed to get them for £263 from my Porsche dealer, they feel smoother than my old ones.

Yeah it's a bit fiddly, you have to get the handbrake cable in there too but use your thumbs to press it home and like the Little Fella says a long piece of smooth wood like a broom handle.
You hit it towards the front of the car ! Use red rubber grease or Vaseline to lube it, doesn't harm the rubber.

£263 is very cheap from an OPC ...

You definitely can’t replace any parts on these, that plastic ribbed part on the end prevents you removing anything
