Fluid Leak

Hi all,

Pulling into a drive earlier I noticed a trail of liquid exactly following my car. On inspection when I parked up at home I could see fluid dripping from the undertray. Roughly halfway across and just behind the front wheels (from the join between two undertray sections).

It's cold to the touch (car fully up to temp having just driven 45 minutes home) and doesn't smell as far as I can tell so I'm thinking some sort of water leak coming from somewhere.

Any ideas what this could be and anything easy (i.e. I am not technical!) I could try before trying to get it looked at?

992.2 C2S by the way.

Cheers

Just to add, when I was looking it was a slow drip. I turned the engine back on and looked underneath and it had become much quicker.

I caught some in a white bowl and it is colourless, cold and no smell, so I'm sure it's some sort of water rather than coolant.

Further update, I ran the engine with air con on: fast drip. Turned off AC: slow drip Repeated a few times and now fairly sure it's to do with AC.

Hopefully if that's the case it's the least worst option potential bill wise :-/

Is that not just the normal water coming of the AC unit? if so nothing to worry about

I hope so, but I've never noticed it before and there seems a lot of it.

as @flatstick says if it's clear and not coloured it can't be coming from too many places, it's either AC or the washer tank and the washer tank wouldn't increase in quantity with the AC on. I assume you've checked the coolant levels are OK and confirmed they're reddish coloured?

I Keep my in a carcoon and it shows every drip, AC puts a fair bit of water out, i get pinkie/ orange of the exhaust and bolts at the back and dirty of the under tray, can be shocking some times.

Condensation from aircon seems to be the likelihood.. so hopefully no issue. As for the colour of drips in general, often washer fluid can be coloured and mine is blue, whereas pink stains on alloy components may well be coolant weeping on older cars such as the 997 and perhaps 991... which may have a slight issue of sealing of a plastic coolant flange to alloy at the rear of the engine....?
