Engine numbers

Last December I started importation of my car into Portugal, everything has progressed along nicely until now. In my registration Document the engine number is listed as the model number ie. M6406-635 A5004-10 however the number stamped on the engine is 63S50687.
I am in a catch 22 sittuation. If I give them the engine number it does not relate to the registration Document, if I give them the model number they cannot find that number on the engine. Does anyone have a left hooker imported into the uk that could confirm what DVLC put down as their engine details.

The chassis no. is the same both on car and log book. The engine no. on log says "Not Stated", and where do you find the engine no. on the car?

The engine number is at the back of the engine on the right hand side (looking from back of car)at the bottom of the alternator fan housing.

Cheers Peter. Can't really see all the no. 'cos the ac compressor is in the way but certainly not the same as chassis no.

When you say model no. I assume you mean chassis no.? May be they got it mixed up with engine no. when it was registered?

Model no. is nothing to do with chassis number. M64 is model no. for 993. 06 denotes 1995 tiptronic and 63S is the beginning of the engine number.

It does not have to be particulary a left hand drive, the information should be the same. Maybe a dealer would know, like Mark for instance
