Hi

Looking to buy first 911. lhd if preferable as it isn't a problem. Ideally would like to spend 12 - 14k. PLease can someone let me know if they have any experience of either RSJ Sports in reading (couple of nice lhd 964), or Fuchs in Nottingham (nice older cars).

I appreciate your help, as a 911 novice!!

Thanks

Mike

I've heard good things about RSJ (not used then personally), they always seem to have a nice selection of mainly lhd cars. Fuchs tend to get a pretty mixed response. People on this board have mentioned that their cars are not always quite as described on the website - and with more emphasis on making them look nice than mechanical preparation. They are also not the cheapest ! As ever there's no substitute for visiting these places in person and seeing first hand whether they are people with whom you're happy to do business.

The golden rule, regardless of what you buy is to make sure you get it professionally inspected (not by the AA !!!) before you hand over your hard earned.

3.2 or a 964?

Mike,

Its a frequently asked question. It seems that you might not be absolutley firm about max £14k. If you would spend a little more you might (with effort) find a good 964, less than £14 is making the job very hard. 964 are much more complex and therefore carry more risk on the used market.

As for a 3.2 , these are relatively simple and very durable. With 12-14k you can find a proper car that shouldn't suprise you.

I suggest that you ;

1/consider upping the budget if you want to look at 964.

2/ that you have atry in both, maybe do the 964 first and a 3.2 second and see what you like.

Always make the effort to find a really good genuine example rather than buying cheap and hoping for the best. LHD is fine.

Hi Mike

I was at RSJ yesterday to have a look at the Turbo and met Joel. He seemed an ok chap and as Jamie mentioned above, has a nice selection of cars. In conversation, he is obviously comfortable with people having independant checks on his cars. Have'nt dealt with him yet but who knows.

Like anybody else, I could'nt help having a nose around all of them. The slate grey and silver ones did look very nice. The silver looked a little less tired than the others internally.
