Dark Knight - the Barn Find is booked for the facelift

The headshop are renting out a Targa for a few months

One thing that is becoming apparent is that the parts interpreters with the knowledge of 80/90's Porsche at OPC's are no longer in the game. 2 sets of handbrake cables sent, both wrong. The last option are ex Germany. They won't arrive in time before he goes on leave. So the next time I see DK it will be to drive it to the paint shop.
At least White Knight now has the use of the garage for the next 3 months or so.

This is what eventually thinned out my collection of old motorbikes, finding/making parts and always having jobs needing doing,
There is a lot to be said for a vehicle that is super reliable and just works without fuss.

The 930 is in the shop, the 996 isn't finished, the Defender is in the shop, the Range Rover has a brake warning light on.
I'm going to go and look at some new 911s this morning, I fancy owning at least one thing that hopefully won't stress me out, that's one thing that the 991s were great at, they were spanking new t the time and reliability never came into it,

I stuffed up. This morning I got a call from the paint shop asking if we could delay DK going in by a week. I was taken back by this as I'd mentally parked this in the first week of March. I checked my calendar and it was today. I'm annoyed that I stuffed up. With the earliest opportunity now to get DK back being 1st week of March, it now means that I can bring DK to the RS day at Oulton Park and drop it off to paint on the way home. 1 step backwards as they say.

We know how good your diary skills are :ROFLMAO:

Got DK washed yesterday for today's meet, which turned out to be a cracker. A few weeks back, I was having a conversation about all things car wrapping, which I showed him the concept picture. I told him I had set of lens covers on order, along with other bits.
One thing that i wasn't ever really enamoured with was the paleness of the wrap and contrast of chrome wheels, orange indicators and yellow lights. Seemed a bit busy. He flagged that up which put then put a nail in the coffin, and I cancelled the order. It was taking a while to arrive as well which helped me kill it off
I then saw a pic of a 930 Turbo at Bonhams which piqued my interest.

I thought it looked ace, so I took the wrap off the headlights only.

You can see that the yellow lens on the top pic is a deeper yellow, so I've paused the yellow lens purchase until I see on a car in the flesh.

With colour choices all over the shop, it's a wait and see.
The other part of today at the meet, which was eye opening, was being able to do a back to back road test with Zingaris Targa. We have both said how different they drive compared to more modern iterations.
I threw him the keys to DK and out we went for the comparison and then i drove his..
Firstly the 915 vs G50. The 915 has a significantly longer, and more deliberate shift required to swap cogs. The G50 felt like a short shift in comparison. This sparked a question as to whether an SSK is avaliable, and is it an improvement to the drive.
Secondly, the clutch on the 915 is light like a modern car compared to the G50. Not an issue, just a point of difference.
Zingaris car has has a bunch of parts replaced including suspension, whereas DK is, as far as we can tell, still on the original shocks that came standard on the Supersport. The ride on the g50 could be described as sporty, you certainly knew what was going on at the road level. I would describe mine as touring comfortable, but had the odd whinge about ride quality. Bring able to compare the cars back to back has allowed us to both answer questions in relation to certain aspects of our cars. Really useful. I'm now armed with more info when I need to replace the shocks over winter.
Otherwise, top day. The journey continues!
Unless you’ve seen sense ;)there is a genuine pair of Bosch yellow lenses FS on here for £100

I’d buy them but it’s members only.
I wasn’t a fan at all and then I took this picture and the lights look yellow? Just from age, but i thought proper yellow would look good.

Only just found this thread. got immediaitely sucked in whith the dusty picture of a supersport at the start and then the saga of the european road trip. Fair play for taking that on. Now lost half a day of work reading through it.

Just noticed Paragon sold their white GTS.
Yours is better, see if they’ll sell yours?

:ROFLMAO:……..he doesn’t really want to sell it !

They take a hefty wedge I believe. As do most on SOR.

That looks nice, it doesn't say if it's a G50 box or a modified 915 five speed, it just says uprated.

There is something about the M491 cars, with an uprated NA engine revving at over 6k, if you could get one anywhere 275bhp+ then it would probably be a really nice thing to drive.
