Bore Scope Results - Bore Scoring?

Pics as soon as you take collection!

Pics of new car obligatory!
And I don't mean of the cylinders 😎

Posted a few pictures here for everyone to take a look at. The excitement of waiting to pic it up is killing me. I’ve also got a few tasteful modifications ready to be carried out this week and some minor work just to ensure that’s it’s as close to perfect as possible. Also am strongly considering an aero front bumper just to make it look that little bit more aggressive. Any thoughts on a replica of the car in picture attached. I will of course keep all original parts so it can be put back to standard at anytime.

Looks nice, I do like Arctic silver for these cars!

It's got a proper gearbox 😉

I think the above car is a bit too close to the ground for my taste also. But also keen to avoid the car having that tractor look. But I’m not in a rush to make too many changes too quickly.

Hi everyone I just want to get your opinion on a car that I have had recently borescoped. The car is an April 05 Carerra S with 50k on the clock. The car is in beautiful condition and exactly the spec that I have been looking for. The Porsche specialist that performed the borescope told me that the it was one of the cleanest examples he’d seen of a 997.1 and priced very reasonably for the condition the car was in. The borescope showed one or two very slight drag lines on the inside of two of the cylinders. The specialist explained that this is very normal for a car of this age to have these type of light marks and said it should not be a concern should I decide to purchase. I also asked the opinion of another separate specialist who agreed and said the marks were likely came from the car being driven too hard before warming up correctly during its lifetime. I wanted to get the opinion of the members and 997 owners to hear their thoughts. I also plan to drive and enjoy the hell out of this car and really don’t want to be living in fear about some minor issue that’s expected with a car of this age. But also would still like to know about what I could potentially be letting myself in for should I decide to proceed. View attachment 104255

I thought you’d be interested to know when I bought my car a year ago I had identical marks in 2 cyclinders.
I negotiated a huge discount. Grant at Hartech (on his return from holiday- he was away when I bought the car) looked at my images and felt it was nothing to worry about.
3000 miles later it still uses no oil and on changing the plugs they were completely clean.
As importantly the rest of the car was in near concours condition so it hasn’t cost me the earth in other ways, as mentioned by others.
Sounds like a great buy. Enjoy.

Congrats on the buy lovely .😍

I have had mine 4 weeks now and love it , bore scoring was always on my mind but I bought a lowish mileage one so hopefully it's all good fingers crossed. If the worst should happen I would get it sorted.

Enjoy the car mate I am :)

Much like a house, live with it for a time before making changes would be my advice.
For your further reassurance I have attached a photo of my cyclinder markings which have not caused any issues.

Thansk a lot this is all very useful. Will update some pictures this week after I collect the car on Friday. Treated it so some BBS CH-R wheels, lowered 15mm (5mm lower now than a standard GTS this is perfect height for me) and a new aerokit front bumper. Also took the advice of the members here to fit a low temp thermostat. Literally cannot wait to see the final results and planning this to be my forever car. A big thanks to everyone here for the support and great advice.

Totally agree with not making too many changes too quickly but I’m only in Europe for 2 months each year and want to get the most out of the car when I’m at home. Also me and my girlfriend are planning a road trip across Europe and would like to get some nice photos of the car in different countries.
