Afternoon everyone

I have been toying with a suspension upgrade and have been speaking to a local Company (Tewkesbury, Glos) called Power Station.

They are the UK distributors for a German Company called AST has anyone heard of them.

The guy I was talking to seems quite knowledgeable and runs a Mk1 996 GT3, but previously had a 993 C2.

Regards

I've heard of them, they IIRC are a dutch based company... I know parts are used in euro based motorsports but i guess they are not that well known here...

regards

I think you are right. Aparently the guy behind them worked for Koni F1 for several years and this company are the UK distributors.

AST Stands for Advanced Suspension Technology.

They are only about 3 miles down the road to me so I will go and have a look at the set up.

They quoted me £1250 inc vat for a complete replacement of 4 shocks and springs fully adjustable, and a full 4 wheel alighnment and Kinematic toe.

I thought that was quite competitive.

Ray,

Sounds like a bargain. Have you managed to get more info, damper and spring spec.

I would be interested at that price.

I have had a chat with them regarding the details, its a bit over my head but here goes.

This is a coil over system.

For road use on my C4 they would fit 50n/mm dampers to the front with 70n/mm rated dampers to the rear.

For a C2 they would fit 40n/mm to the front instead.

The dampers and springs are 12 position and fully adjustable. Similar to Bilstein PSS9 I believe.

The Total cost for the dampers, springs, fitting and 4 wheel alighnment is £1257.25 including the vat.

Regards

That's sounds pretty impressive - is there a dealer in the Surrey area that you know of?

I think the real question is how the AST performs with the well-proven H&R/Bilstein options. It may be £300 cheaper, but does it provide the same/worse/better ride control and quality?

Also, when it comes to resell (if you do), will the next buyer consider AST a negative factor vs. the H&R/Billies?

Ray,

Appreciate the info.

Not sure if you wrote the data wrongly, but that spec doesn't add up to me.

I am doing some work with INTRAX in Holland. I think they may have a good 993 & 996 damper running twin springs. I will investigate further.

Graham
