Ordinarily, when I see an advert that starts….’selling on behalf of…..’ I switch off – filled with suspicion.

However, in this case, I really am genuinely trying to sound out the market for this car on behalf of my oldest and dearest friend who’s having a very tough time at the moment.

If anyone either has any interest in the car – or has any ideas on where best to go about marketing (eBay / Autotrader..?) thoughts would be welcome.

My mate Nick, bought this car around 2015 when it was 3 years old. In 2020, he transferred the ownership to his Dad, who’s been extremely ill and died a few weeks ago. I’m trying to take a bit of hassle off his hands.

Only 44k on the clock.

The car is really extremely good. Never even had an advisory at MOT, and has been an octogenarian’s car for the past 5 years.

Mechanically, it’s excellent. Exceptionally lightly used, with all service history details, bills etc all present and correct. The downside is that it’s been an octogenarian’s car for the past 5 years, so wheels have been curbed, and there are scrapes in a couple of places on the bumpers etc.

On top of that, some f**ers keyed it along both sides, so it has a deep scratch running front to back.

I don’t know where to price it. Reckon the cheapest ones on Autotrader are around the £6.5k mark and unlikely to be in such good mechanical condition. Bodywork a different story…..
MINI roof rack included!!

I was thinking £5,500 is about right. Thoughts? He'll be open to offers, I wanna help him clear his desk....

If anyone’s genuinely interested in this, be happy to have a conversation, introduce you to Nick and go from there. Just want it to be as easy as possible for all involved.

100% honest car with very low mileage and in a nice spec. But with the obvious shortfalls as seen in the photos. Figured this is as good a place to start as any….

S/H as follows. You can check the MOT history on line – been carried out on time annually, and it is unblemished (unlike the doors and bumpers,,,,.)

I was in a similar position last year when my mother was diagnosed terminal and could not drive any more.

It was obviously an emotional time and she had had her 10 year old fiat 500 from new. Similar in that it was a very honest car with 30kish miles but a few scrapes / needed tidying up.

We had an idea of value but did not want any hassle so simply visited a local none specialist dealer. He actually offered us more than we thought it was worth. Made the whole ordeal very easy. He explained that he could not hold of enough £5k manual cars that parents wanted for their kids to learn to drive in. It never went on his lot before it was sold. Everyone was happy and it was very easy.

Just an option that it may be worth just asking a local dealer what he would pay for it as its the right value and manual for a quick sale to them ;-)
