Folks, for the life of me, I just can't find this didplay on the central readout. I can scroll through the settings for it, in order to make it read in bar or psi, but it doesn't appear when scrolling through the options for this screen.

Could it have been coded out in the past, as I've only had the car a few days?

What information does display?

As you toggle you should see average mph since the last reset, average mpg since the last reset, remaining fuel range, tyre pressures, a number denoting the current level of boost, a bar showing the level of boost and the word 'navigation'.

Have you used them as you're actually driving as it's just occurred to me that the boost levels may not display if the car is stationary.

T8, I can see all those options except for the boost ones. I'll try again tonight, using this as an excuse for testing to go for a drive.

Whilst we're on finding fixes, I found an iPod 30 pin cable in the glovebox and subsequently discovered that the CD changer had been removed in the past. I recall that this was a way to install an iPod connection, by removing the multi cd changer and putting an iPod in its place to function on its premise.

This would be great, but alas the bloody thing doesn't work. I've attached an iPod nano 5th generation and all it says on the display is bypass mode, accessory connected. It does show it charging. Maybe this iPod is too new for this connection?

If you have a Dension unit fitted then it has a bypass switch on the unit that the ipod plugs into. I suggest you do a search for a Dension unit! Dension

I've just realised that what I meant to say was that the boost levels might not show if the engine isn't running. They definitely should show if the car is running but not moving.

The pressure guage definitely isn't showing in the display. I don't know if this is related, but the car has a Capristo exhaust system fitted, which has a control unit linked to the cars FM channel on the PCM unit. It runs on channel 88.1 and shows which mode the exhaust valves are in, with the associated back pressure values in mbar units. It seems like the car drives fine as it is boosting from low rpm all the way up and I can hear the turbo's whistling and whooshing. I'm taking it to my indy next week to have a door regulator replaced and I'll ask him to stick the PIWIS on it for a check.

With regard to the Dension, I had one of these in my recently sold Carrera S and understand about the bypass switch operation. I've has a thorough look inside the turbo car and can't see such a device anywhere. I've read somewhere, that these ipod connection cables could be fitted, but the CD multichanger had to be removed from the car, with the ipod interface taking its place and the PCM thinking it's still the CD multichanger.

The Dension didn't have this issue, as it could switch back to the PCM's default operation with all it's media hardware, including NAV drive and multi cd changer.

Thank you very much for all your advice and guidance. Forums are great because of members like you all!

Not sure if you resolved this, but on the Set menu (using the stalk) you can select which of the items appear so they may have been deselected? Not sure if you can do that for the boost but worth checking.

I’d be very surprised if you could code out the boost gauge, and there’s simply no reason why you would anyway.

I tried going through the set menu again and it does not display on my dash. Whats weird is that I can still change the boos pressure units though?

Do you mean from Bar to PSi? I didn’t know you could do that… do you definitely have a 997?! This is all very odd, I’m intrigued!

Yeah this doesn't make sense, you definitely have a 997 Turbo right? And the correct Turbo instrument cluster, etc.?

Changing Bar to PSI is standard on 997 so no issue with that, it's the lack of boost gauge info that confuses me.

In the engine bay, there will be a plug that goes into the front of the Y-Pipe where it joins the throttle body. This is where the boost reading comes from, you could check it is plugged in as a start.

Just an update on my ipod connector issue, especially as people often don't come back and post when issues have been resolved.

I don't know how, but it started functioning today and it displayed "Exit locked mode". With the absence of any kind of manual for this kit, I pressed and held all manner of buttons and it started working.

Update:

The car is definitely a turbo, lol. About a week ago I tried disconnecting the plug in front of the Y pipe, but this didn't restore the boost pressure guage. As an aside and I'm not sure this is relative to this fault, my Capristo exhaust actuators weren't closing the valves and after some enquiries with the part supplier, Scuderia Car Parts, I was sent a replacement electric valve solenoid control module free of charge. I just replaced this today and my valves are now fully functional, restoring all three driving modes, cruise, sport and open. I will test later if this was affecting the guage, although I doubt it very much.

To be honest, even though I'd like the guage to be present, it's not a great loss as the car is definitely boosting properly. I have other high performance cars in my extended family to compare with and my car shifts ass very rapidly!
