Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any info on how many RHD C4S 997 gen 2s were made ? I know they are pretty rare but would love to get an idea on uk numbers.

I have always loved this car and have been search for a manual for some time, and recently I have been offered a 2012 with 76k miles, which is a little higher than I would like and i am wondering if its still worth the investment.

Plan is to, tidy up the bodywork where needed and garage it to enjoy on weekends. Will not be used as a daily driver.

Been also offered a 997 gen2 GTS PDK convertible with much lower milage at similar money and wonder which is better to put money in. My heart says coupe 4S coupe but that mileage puts me off a little.

I'd appreciate any thoughts and input as this is my first purchase and big decision for me.

Thanks,

GTS everyday of the week, so long as having a cab suits you.

Totally different ball park between the C4s and GTS.

So you think longer term GTS pdk cab will have better investment potential than C4S manual ?

100%.

Rarer car and with the additional power pack, the GTS is in a different league, plus you get all the optional extras the GTS came with.

I doubt that you'll get accurate figures for UK market or RHD cars but in terms of overall production numbers the Gen2 C4S Cabriolet wasn't that much rarer than the Coupe. 9,188 Coupes and 7,775 Cabriolets were made.

I suspect a manual, Coupe or Cabriolet, will be quite rare as a massive percentage of original owners would have chosen PDK.

I certainly wouldn't pay a premium for a manual car so the lower mileage, GTS PDK would be my recommendation.

The GTS Cab is a much rarer car. Only 1,813 RWD and 957 AWD were produced.

The GTS for me all day long.

data not available

GTS all day long

Might be better if you posed your question in the 997 forum.

I know I would say it anyway (as I have one), but I'd stick with your plan A and buy a C4S manual. But find one at a more realistic price or beat your guy down - he might capitulate in the end.

I don't really get the GTS "at all costs" opinions, though I do understand the GTS is rare. It is a "run out" model after all, with a few nice extras as standard. Only the RWD cars are unique as all the rest of the options could be specced on a standard car.

There is no doubt though in the long run (as has happened with all other previous models) the Coupe's with manual gearboxes will always be the most sought after 911's. Cabrio's have always been more difficult to sell comparatively, as you can see by the difference in price Coupe vs Cab. To me a 911 still needs to be a Coupe!

BTW, I wouldn't be put off by the mileage as long as history and condition is good.

In fact there's a lovely black one on at Portiacraft, that has a few more miles still, but at a good price.

The GTS "at all costs" opinions are mostly down to that screamer of an engine due to the power pack. It's the everyday man's GT3 of the 911 world.

I have a GTS PDK and came out of a 997.2 C2S. I've not really made friends with the PDK box. It's very good at its intended task, but I enjoy manual cars more. If my GTS was manual, I'd never sell it. PDK is making me want to trade it for a manual car

For me the driver (no pun intended) is manual vs PDK, this is black or white, after that it is all shades of grey. I drive a manual :)
