997.1 suspension refresh

This was the difficult one, I kept it and put it on the garage wall to remind me of the pain that I went through

The front crossmember is pretty straightforward to remove, and makes cutting the inner coffin arm bolts far easier.
The issue being that “once you’re in there” you end up doing the coolant crossover pipes, the plastic coolant manifolds and steel brake pipes at the same time.

Removing the rear crossmember is an altogether different can of worms and can bring its own problems.
I think I’d rather remove the rear damper/spring unit, the driveshaft, anti roll bar and upright/hub assembly along with the suspension arms that aren’t seized, and then tackle the remaining seized arms/bolts/bushes with the crossmember in situ.

Sorry, that wasn't meant as a criticism, but as a request for information - I'm going to be tackling this job soon.

From a completely inexperienced position, I'm wondering if removing one half of the subframe would allow the bolts to be cut off on the bench, rather than on the car?

The subframe is in 3 pieces, one for each side and a cross member.

Have you tackled this job yet?

If so, did you replace the subframe bushes?

Annoyingly the subframe bushes are nsp, meaning that new subframe bushes can only be obtained from Porsche when purchasing the left and right sections of the subframe...

Not yet - my preferred choice Centre Gravity are booked out until mid September, so I'm trying to find an alternative.

If anyone knows of anyone in Essex or even the South East, please let me know - looking for a geometry specialist with Porsche experience.

As for the bushes, why not just buy the Powerflex ones? That's what I'm doing...

Unfortunately Powerflex do not make subframe bushes for the 997.

However they produce subframe bushes for the 996, and I do wonder whether these would fit…

Edit: @youngsyr I’ve just seen your picture. Would you happen to know the item number for the Powerflex bushes installed in the subframe?
