Hello everyone!

I've been away from the 911 fold since my Accountant tempted me to electric in 2020 for tax reasons, I've now had 5 years of firstly a Tesla and now more recently an E-Tron GT, and when the lease finishes this year I'm going back to ICE and 911!

I love the 991.2 GTS 4 but looking at prices you can get a 992 for the same money, just wondering what peoples opinions were for the newer model over the GTS4?

I'm a member of a lot of Facebook groups and I hear terrible stories about turbo's failing on the 991.2's all the time, and finding a good example with OPC warranty (without paying the approved used tax) looks quite difficult?

Would love to hear off anyone who may have jumped to the 992 and gauge their thoughts?

The tax benefits of electric have been great this past 5 years but looking forward to getting back in to a 911!

991.2 Turbo issues, it's not the turbo but the valve, however to get to it is another issue

Have both a 991.2 (NA 4 litre engine) and a 992.1 (3 litre turbo) - both cars are excellent in their different ways.
This is also true of the 991.2 3 litre turbo versus a 992.1 3 litre turbo.
There is very little in it from a performance or handling point of view.
From an exterior perspective, very little difference.
From an interior perspective, a complete refresh - in my own head, this alone would not be a deciding factor.
How the car is optioned is critical IMHO.
You will not be disappointed in whatever gen you eventually end up with.
Hope this helps, and good luck in your hunt. :)

I'd be going 992 for the interior, under OPC warranty only.
Would certainly agree with the comment on the OPC warranty - wouldn't have either gen without the warranty. (y)

992 GTS is a great car especially as it’s the first GTS that’s not an upgraded Carrera S more a Turbo Lite.

Scope growth alert!

Is the 992 GTS designed from the ground up then? I know historically it was a slightly tuned S with some Turbo bit bolted on?

The 992 GTS shares its suspension with the 992 Turbo model which itself was developed to make it more like a GT3

its a great time to have a 80k budget, you have many choices but i would echo the warranty sentiment regardless of what you get

I just had major coolant leak and have an intermittent chassis fault message so im glad i have a warranty

i would also consider a 991.2 Turbo or S and also a 991.1 GT3 around this price point

I've just been looking at the 992 GTS's and they are nearly £100k, think that may break the bank for me! Maybe by October the prices will have dropped in to my price bracket as the market is in a right mess at the moment.

991 GT3 no good for me as I need the 4 seats for occasional trips with my teenage daughter in the back.

Turbo & Turbo S are lovely but I think the 992 would tick more boxes with the newer tech, plus they seem to sit for sale for an age and I'd likely change the car after 12-18 months.

I have a 991.2 C4 GTS and have looked at 992s as an upgrade, however, as much as I like the later tech, they have grown in size a fair bit and to me they dont look as pretty from the rear but thats only my opinion. Im sure I will end up with a 992 at some point but for now unless something really special came along I will stick with what I have, its so much fun and i dont think it will depreciate as much as say a 992 CS over the next 12 months. As for the power, for me its more than enough for the roads I drive. Enjoy your search, oh and the PCCB are amazing !

isnt the 992 the same width at the front as the rear of the 991 Turbo/wide body?

If so the cars isn't wider than a 991

The extra direct steering also makes the car very accurate to place

My choice would be the 991.2 GTS, because of the interior, looks and slightly more analogue feel overall. I know 'analogue' is possibly a bit of a pseud comment, but I do feel the 991.2 is a place in the development before the car became a bit too 'tech', digital and insulated.
