991.1 remap?

Hi all,

I've had my 991.1 C4S for about 4 months now and started thinking about modifications.

Looking on Design 911, it says you can buy a Ganga ECU remap for £170 and it will bump power from 400bhp to 448bhp

I'm highly skeptical of this increase, especially for the price, but just wondered if anyone had actually done this or similar?

You will certainly experience an improvement, can't comment on figures, as so many other factors come into play

Keen to know more. Reasonable price. I haven’t heard of them, are they reputable tuners? They conservative or push things to the max?

That does seem like a lot of extra on an NA engine for just a few quid. It’s not as easy as just turning boost up.

You’d have to assume that the standard map is heavily backed off for some reason if they can release 50bhp out of it just like that.

Did a bit of research after posting. It seems like an ODB2 version of a tuning box. No one has any actual verified data or claims to this in real life, I haven’t come across any positive reviews just yet.

Proper tuning companies are only getting 20bhp for stage 1.

So think this is too good to be true and call BS on it. Surprised Design911 retail it.

That was my thoughts as well. Still looks like you can get an extra 20bhp from other places for about £200 which doesn't seem too bad....

As we all know, normally aspirated cars do NOT present back well to a remap, maybe 20bhp and a bit more torque at most. That being said it'll add a bit more drive ability but no where near a turbo charged car. All these back street companies offering a remap for £200 are not worth it... Save your money....

I contacted Design 911 and they claim they have sold around 150 units of these with no issues. I don't think they "verify" the product, but they do recommend it enough to put it on their website. It is indeed a map via OBD2.

As we all think, it sounds a bit too good to be true. I have asked them if they can contact the supplier to get a full dyno print or similar that supports their claims....

In fairness even if it was only 20 odd Bhp would be decent for the price. However knowing that it’s a safe & reliable tune and drives well and improves on the standard map is important to know.

Don't waste your time on the Ganga obd box.... ran one on a few Boxsters and they're crap.... try the Sprint Booster.... they work.....!!!!

They did pay for a new battery............ as not to invalidate the warranty, I decided to go to a reputable jewellers.

£110 at H Samuel.

Bet they get their supplier to check the batteries in the future.

The naturally aspirated 991.1 DFI engines have very little extra to give with a remap.

They are highly tuned to start with. You might squeeze 25 bhp if you are lucky but it will never be night and day.

The 3.4 especially is tuned up already compared with the same displacement engine in the 981 which makes 25 less HP.
