I was cleaning the Boxster today and took the battery cover off, exposing all thr gubbins between the firewall and front boot. I found a cable that wasn't plugged in and didnt seem long enough to reach anywhere. Any thoughts on what it should be connected to?
I looked through PET but without knowing what the thing is called that it should be connected to, makes is a difficult search amongst the 750 odd pages

I would assume it's likely to be for the alarm siren

that's the carbon canister

A component of a vehicle's evaporative emission control (EVAP) system.
It's filled with activated charcoal that absorbs fuel vapors from the fuel tank, preventing them from escaping into the atmosphere.
When the engine is running, the stored vapors are purged from the canister and burned in the engine.
