An Early Manual 3.4 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 with an original cable GT3 throttle body.
Iconic 'Fast and Furious' Silver with space grey interior and 49k miles
Rolled off the production line in Stuttgart March 1998
Bodywork in Iconic Silver with the early spec grey interior a sparce cabin as is typical of the early cars without even a glovebox as standard.
Covering just 49,600 miles from new I have owned her for approaching 7 years.
Always garaged, fastidiously maintained and loved
The car came to me bog standard, with it's limited miles just 32k. Despite being in immaculate condition it needed a full refresh in both suspension & braking.
During my ownership I have refreshed alot:
Brakes
1. All new brake lines
2. News Discs & Pads including rebuild of Rear calipers
3. New Rubber all round
Suspension
1. Supply & install new adjustable Coil over Suspension
2. Install lightweight front Strut brace
3. All new bushes drop links and suspension elements installed
**Suspension selected was Street NOT race inspired. Comfort important. Ride height matching Porsche original M030 setup minus 5mm
Exhaust
1. Full Headers back with 200cell cats XPipe design
2. Rare US imported Z box induction kit
3. 1 of 1 Genuine Porsche GT3 Throttle body
4. ECU Remapped to optimise setup
** I Hand picked this system, it is not the typical chosen most people go with a deep burble for their 911. For the 996 I always felt what it needs to match it's design is a more modern high pitch howl akin to a pre turbo F1 car.
This system delivers in spades, perfectly balanced nice and quiet below 3.5k rpm then comes alive with great enthusiasm above 4k screaming to it's redline.
The car was always a cable throttle body, However while doing the updates to the exhaust system I happened to acquire a genuine early cable GT3 throttle body. The previous owner had attempted to fit to his 911 but never managed to get it to work correctly. He was using too much fuel and had lots of flat spots.
On initial install I too experienced the same issues until I forked out for an expensive remap. All I can say is wow because the car was transformed!
This 911 996 is unlike any other 996 you have driven short of an actual GT3.
Additional new/updated components
1. Low temp thermostat
2. New original clutch & Flywheel
3. IMS bearing & rear mainseal
4. Removed rear windscreen wiper
5. Carbon Fibre center console tunnel
6. New Starter motor
Externally and internally it is clear she is low mileage.
I will disclaim there is a small clatter on a cold start up, 30seconds max very typical for these engines. The engine had the exact same behaviour at 32k miles and is not something progressive or to be concerned over.
Prior to my purchase in 2018 and in February 2024 borescopes have been completed showing absolutely zero scoring. Literally clean as a whistle. These early engines are bullet proof and I only changed the IMS as we could see a very small leak. Anything needed I have always been proactive multiple specialists have commented on the healthyness of the engine and marveled at it's delivery.
Sad to see her go, but I am moving to the canary islands and I can only keep one car here in the UK now. With a recent newborn I had to buy a Panamera
Its been 6months since I got the panamera and my excuses for not selling the 911 have finally run dry!
THIS IS IT best 996 available, these early cars are going to catapult in value i love her orange indicators and the 3.4 is masterful.
I've owned an air-cooled and driven a 996 3.6 this 3.4 engine is unique. Its honestly better than the 3.6 it delivers it's power in such a beautiful way. She literally screams to 7.5k rpm it's enthralling in I have to say testament to the combination of a special exhaust system, Air intake and the one of a kind cable GT3 throttle body.
This car is NOT your average 3.4 you have driven, you will realise that the moment you blip the throttle. It took me about 2years of time and money to get this car where it is today she is something special.
*Always garaged*
A joy every time I get a chance to take her out
Recently serviced with Newclutch Feb 24', one of one 3.4 GT3 cable throttled 911.
£29.5k is the asking price
