After 14 years of ownership, I’ve decided to sell my 1996 (P-plate) Porsche 993 Carrera coupe, manual, Varioram.
Midnight blue with a marble interior. 133,000 miles. The car is in outstanding condition.
I bought the car in 2010 from a Porsche enthusiast. It was in great mechanical condition. The paint was showing its age with the usual wear and tear. I already knew that I would be undertaking a cosmetic refurbishment to make it a great looking 993.
I spent nearly 2 years refurbishing every visual aspect of the car. This included a glass-out, full body repaint by a trusted paint shop. I photo-documented the whole process if anyone is interested!
The car is now in outstanding cosmetic condition. The paint work is immaculate with no chips, marks or blemishes. New seals, rubbers, and glass.
Key refurbishments-
Glass-out, back to metal (where required) full repaint in Midnight Blue.
Only corrosion repair was to bottom right of rear screen. 993s are susceptible to front and rear screen corner corrosion. My 993 was pleasingly very solid in these areas. I suspect both screens were original fitment.
Rear chassis leg inspection, restoration, paint and protection. No welding required. Cavities treated with Bilt Hamber wax.
New front and rear screens. Very expensive from Porsche!
Every visible rubber and seal that showed any deterioration was replaced
New headlight glass
New Fog lights
Front seats removed and professional refurbished and re-coloured
Wheels refurbished by Exel Wheels
New wheel nuts
New coloured wheel centres
New Michelin PS4 tyres
Doors stripped, cleaned and rebuilt. Refurb aluminium frames. New vapour barriers
All replacement parts were sourced from Porsche OPC Sheffield
My 933 is very standard with the following options/extras/modifications-
Motorsound airbox – from new
Motorsound mufflers – from new
Cruise control
Adjustable Bilstein B6 shock absorbers fitted all round with new bushes and full alignment
Porsche M030 sport springs and anti-roll bar
H&P alarm with two keyfobs
A/C – not working
Very nice, Becker Grand Prix CD/Radio with Bluetooth. Inc. keycode card
Cassette holder replaced with cup holder
Marble handbrake lever replaced with black leather handbrake lever
RS Gear knob
OEM black leather steering wheel included but not fitted
Engine undertray included
Third brake light & LED kit included
ODB2 port reader
New, unused OEM floor mats
Printed workshop manual
Maintenance-
I have always looked after and serviced my own cars. In my younger days, I built engines and competition cars, competing in national stage rallies.
I had an initial service and inspection by Pro-Porsche. Then carried out my own servicing and maintenance for peace of mind.
Previous owner used and recommended Fuchs Titan Supersyn 5W-40, fully synthetic, engine oil and I have continued to use this throughout my ownership.
Regular servicing
Detailed history file
Replaced all 4 disk, pads and sensors
Refurbished steering rack
Sunroof lining repair
New starter motor
New battery
My 993 has not been driven much over the last few years however it is regularly started and driven locally. I now have a ‘project’ Mk1 Escort RS2000 which I am going to be spending my time on. This is the main reason I’m looking to sell the 993 as it just stays in the garage 99% of the time.
Summing up, this is an exceptionally well presented, coupe, manual, two-wheel drive, Varioram 993 in a ‘not offensive’ colour that has been extensively refurbished to look its best. Other than the mileage, it’s about as good as it gets for a usable 993
MOT valid until May 2025, no advisories.
£48,000
