Starting a separate thread for this as it will be easier. When I picked the car up from storage I noticed the rears are old (year 2017) and need replacing. Ok, fine. Its a 2002 car with 18 inch wheels, so sizing is - 225/40 front and 285/30 rear, unless I am mistaken.

Can I find decent tyres for the rear in 285/30? No. Best I have found is Michelin PS2s - way too old IMO. I wanted PS5, Goodyear ASM (had good experience with these in the past) or Conti's.

Looking at both Camskill, Tyre Shopper and Black Circles the best I can get is either PS4S or Falken in 295/30 or pretty much whatever I want in 275/35 (inc PS5).

What sizing do most people go for on a .2 with 18 inch wheels, and where do you get them? I am not against Falken, and I can get them matching front and rear in 295, but unless I go to 275 rear, I do not seem to be able to find recent/modern tyres in good sizes to match front and back (I am not putting PS5 on the front and PS2 on the rear).

This was a pain in TVR land on the standard 15 front, 16 rear wheels of a Chimaera, which is why lots go to 17's now.

I went with 235-40 fronts and 275-35 rears, this allowed PS5 etc.

Pirelli Pzero rosso assismeteic N4 (or something named like that) are available in both OE sizes

I don’t think the Ps5 is a sporty tyre… the PS5S isn’t available ( I think* )

Conti 7 gets phenomenal reviews, don’t know anyone that runs them on the 996.2 - be brave! Let us know!

i went MPS4S 225 and 285 but they resonate terribly and a few others have found the same… but even more love them so might just be unlucky.

PS5's are a brilliant tyre, and more up to date than the aged PS4S nowadays. They do have a softer side wall but that makes for a better tyre on the road IMO. I swapped out Cup 2's for PS5 on my 996 and it's a much better car for it in many ways.

I run the same as this on mine in PS5 also. great tyre

I run PS5 at 265mm on the rear of my C4 and I highly recommend them as a super tyre. Bought from tyreleader, £600 for a full set of 4.

I was looking at the Conti 7 since that is available in 235 and 295.

I do have H&R lowering springs, will a 235 rub at all? Or do people use spacers? Standard Carrera 5 spoke alloys.

I cannot find PS5 in 295, only 275 for the rear. Is that what everyone who does have PS5's run?

Ring Camskill they will let you know what they have coming in. I think some sizes are more common in other markets.
I waited a couple of weeks for PS4S in 225/40 and 285/30.
Only relevant if you want to stick to original size. Other options as above.

I'm running Eagle F1's 265 rears and they've been great in both dry and wet. Feel way better than any of the Pirellis I've had.

I must of caught them on an off day.
A N other company did try the N argument and like a lemming did check with my Insurance.

My original wheels have N rated Michelins on and they are crap compared to the PS5's, go figure
