New Macan ...... where can I fit the dogs

Hi all,

thinking of changing an estate car for New Mac an, to compliment my Carerra S Cab in the garage. ...... Having given a Diesel S a real shakedown, I was delighted with the way the car handled / behaved etc, it was a demonstrator with a lot of toys so maybe they were persuading me! ...... However, looking at the Boot area, there would seem no means of having a dog cage for the Westies!. ..... The parcel shelf seemed to be a solid type and therefore would have to be removed and stored somewhere ( why not a roll out type ...... much more user friendly) and even with the parcel shelf removed, the whole area seemed very claustrophobic ............ Who designed this car ..... surely I cannot be the only person who has a need to travel with canine friends ..................... what is the answer (oh well perhaps another boring estate ).....

It sounds suspiciously like you are looking at the wrong car. The steeply raked rear screen is clearly not designed for high loads in the back (such as anything with a head that might like to look around. You should be looking at the Cayenne if you want a Porsche dog carrier. They are a very similar width so the practicality of them both isn't that far apart, but the larger car is the one with the boot that you need...

appreciate the wit and the replies, but trying to be serious for a moment, I have now tried a Cayenne and the same applies only upscaled. Looks like i'll have to wait for the future Porsche Estate car. ..... or buy a Volvo !!! lol

Nice easy one question this ....................... It has to be a Range Rover Sport Buddy ..... low tailgate access for the snappers and put up a mesh doggaurd , rubber Boot liner .......Job done !!

Why even think about a macan , its way too small in every way !

Same here, we decided against the Macan, too niche, nice but only really a golf/A3 on stilts size wise. Current 5 series will be replaced with a LR Disco or similar.

I'd be looking at Audi Allroad or Volvo XC70, they bridge gap between SUV and normal estate nicely IMO.

That's a shame but good to know -- i was hoping the Macan would be an effective doggie transporter for our little ones.

Looks like the Cayenne will be with us for a while longer, mind you the reviews on the new Volvo XC90 make it worth a look

Today ........ Went to see Volvo XC60 ... One of the few vehicles left on our list to provide motorway cruising and a transporter for the Westies. AND THEN ..... I saw the XC90. Now, being serious I don't need 7 seats but He Ho. ..... This is a truly great car .... a cross between a Toyota Land Cruiser and a sofa ........ Air suspension, 45mpg, every toy you can imagine and of course every safety (yawn) feature possible. and £52k .......... Cant get that from many manufacturers ........ AND ...... The dog cage fits ........ Job done!!! Sorry Mr Porsche BUT I still have my wonderful Guards Red C2S Cab ..... which also has a lot of toys, ...... everyone happy now.

You can't get cars that can depreciate from that to £16k in 3 years from many manufacturers either though...

Just going through the exact dilemma for the other half which started with looking at a new Mecan and found the same issues.

Cayenne is to big and out of budget to be frank so we then looked at a RR Evoque which was a lovely looking car and nice place to sit but still not enough room.

Sunday just gone we drove over to Warrington to try a Volvo XC60 which I thought she would love being Swedish herself but it had the look and feel of plastic junk so later that afternoon we drove back across to our local MB dealers in Macclesfield and tried the GLC which honestly was perfect.

I'm doing the deal for her on a GLC in the morning based on a 24 month 10k annual business lease. They start at £35k if buying so a no brainer compared to the smaller Mecan and we found that the MB dealers really went out of there way to accommodate us.

Hang on its only just come out Colin! Where are you getting those scary figures from? Or are you talking about the old one? They're great value.
