After selling my seal grey 996tt 4 years ago I moved on to a few other car including a R8, in the mean time I built myself a track car to keep me amused, so when the chance to buy the 996 back came up recently i jumped at it

My little track toy, so much fun for so little cost

Mechanically the car is still mint but cosmetically it needs a bit of a clean up so decided to get on with that before I have to go back to work next week.

Im planning on doing a few changes, mainly things I never got around to last time.

Wheels dropped off today to be split and the centres colour coded to the body this time .
Decided to do the callipers red for a change as they were needing a repaint anyway.

As part of the deal I got a carbon GT2 wing with the car and Porsche Tequipment rear cage, still to pick up the cage but the spoiler is stunning.

With the cage going in and the 996 rear seats being a bit pointless , Im having the rear shells of the front seats colour coded. So after a few brave pills and a internet guide , this happened today.

The cage fitted easy enough and think its going to look good once the seat backs are painted, not sure if i will leave the Moton Canisters where they are or move them onto the cage.

Got my seat backs back today so set about rebuilding the seat, all went well but still to steam the leather to tighten it up.

Wheels came out really nice with the seal grey centres and chrome powder coat outers, they give 90% of the look of the polished lips but a lot easier to look after.

So a big thanks to Mikey at fife powder coating.

The final piece of my interior make over is this steering wheel from Royal steering wheels, half leather and alacantara with grey stitching and 12 o clock band. I also got extra padding added to give a better feel when driving.

A bargin at £130 for the retrim

I hope to get more use out of the car this time round and may even do a couple of track days.

Very nice and obviously the best colour!! Any plans to do some engine work?

Very nice! The steering wheel looks cracking.

You still got the escos?

That carbon GT2 spoiler is lush. :thumb:

The escort cosworth belongs to a friend , he was around to show me his new wheels. Ive had 3 escort cosworths in the past and still have a soft spot for them.

Just now im planning on just enjoying the car , I may look at more power next year. It already has K24 turbos, uprated coolers, intake pipework, miltek and a few other bits so fast enough for now.

Nice work, but just a suggestion, why dont you remove the rear seat belts and you can buy the GT2 blanking plates for the rear pillars.

Hi Neil, world is a small place now isn't it, how does it feel to be back in your old 911? I recently sold my Escort & Sierra Cossies, and now own a 996 turbo!

Have to say I should have done it years ago, but I did find myself looking through Escort Cosworth classifieds a few nights ago! :frustrated:

Your cars looking ace, must have taken some balls to take the seats apart like that though, hate messing with interiors!

My most favourite wheels of all time, nice setup !

The belts have now been removed , but i never knew the gt2's just used a blank not full panel so I will look into that. I did think about a GT2/3 rear carpet but Im not going to bother.

Hi Will I noticed you had got a 996 in the end, whats your plans for it ?
The seats weren't too bad to do following the guide , first seat was a bit nerve racking but I recon now it takes 20 min to strip one and half hour to rebuild.

I love the LM's swell this is the 3rd colour they have been and think it goes well with the look. they were originally silver as the above pic, I then had the centres and bolts done black with the yellow callipers.

Well, my plan was going to be keep it nice & maybe a simple remap, but following a bit of a disastrous simple job (heat shields & actuator replacement went very badly!) it has now snowballed to a full modification program! I'm having the car converted by 9 excellence to the 9E30 spec, so should be a bit of an animal by all accounts! I will then have to save up for some decent brakes, then hopefully just maintain it & leave it alone... :hand:

Nice one should be a bit of an animal , would love to get a run in a car with hybrids. I was ment to go to Brunters with Ken and the 9e guys years ago when I had this car but I had to go back to work.

9E30 package would be the way I would look to go aswell as would just need the hybrids and injectors.
Justnow I'm not sure if my car has standard K24's or K24/26's as no receipts for the work done by auto prestige. Stuart at SPAutobahn that looks after my car reckons mine pulls harder than other remapped k24 cars he has drove.
