Porsche 991 flat 4 under preparation

it's been on the cards for a while for the Boxster and Cayman range
 
If the development is for the boxster and cayman - why would porsche be testing the new unit in a 991.? 919 4 pot turbocharged, hybrid technology... :dont know:
 
I highly doubt it's a 4 cyl for a 911. More like for the 981 as it's been rumoured previously and as 911UK says above.

Maybe but the 919 sports a V4 engine rather than a flat-4.
