While one Porsche team is working on the third generation of the Cayenne in Stuttgart, another is placing the finishing touches on a mid-cycle facelift for the current model, which should be introduced before the end of the year.
Visually, you'll have to take out your magnifying glass to spot the changes, but once you do, you might discover some interesting details such as the new bonnet that now extends into the revised fenders – something that will no doubt be appreciated by anyone servicing the SUV.
Hiding behind the funny-looking prints, are new headlamps and slimmer tail light clusters, while Porsche has also reworked the front and rear bumper designs.
Some interior and possibly gadget and technology-related refinements are to be expected as well.
In regards to the engine lineup, the German brand's new 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 will be added to the range replacing the naturally aspirated V8, while we've already seen Porsche testing a plug-in hybrid version of the Cayenne, which borrows the Panamera S E-Hybrid's 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine and electric motor setup with a lithium-ion battery. Minor tweaks could be applied to the rest of the powertrains for better efficiency.
