Whale tail spoiler - 2 versions?

I've noticed on some non turbo cars the spoiler is a much larger version than the 'standard version' with a more extended base. This may sound like a daft question but is that the proper turbo version? The one I have has a smaller more compact base. Is this the one that was the UK only option turbo style spoiler? Thanks

A good few views on this topic but no replies. I've added some pics. Same car, same age, different spoiler!!!

Anyone know the difference?

Hi,

I may be able to help as I had both a 1982 SC with sport pack and followed that in 1988 with a 3.2 SE Sport Carrera, not to be confused with the turbo-bidied super-sport.

Both of my cars were bought from OPC's. My SC wasn't a sport but had a factory fitted "sport pack", the first owner didn't like the hard suspension of the full SC Sport. This sport pack included a "Turbo" rear spoiler identical to the ruby red car.

The white car shows a spoiler identical to the factory fitted one my 1989 3.2 Carrera Sport which I bought as an ex demo.

Cheers,
Paul

the white one is non turbo spoiler, some no turbo cars had the turbo spoiler, bigger base to fit the intercooler (and looks better) as well as bigger whale tail bit

DP motorsports did an even bigger one, looks odd

Not sure if this helps, but I'm told that the Tea Trays were on both Turbos ('86 to '94) and SCs ('78-'83). Whale Tails aren't so deep around the sides, as per original Turbos and Carreras.
