Zingari, a g pipe is definitely on the list, especially as i had a direct comparison with PeterS's blue C2 on Saturday morning. The sound from it was amazing Cool

Hi,

That's a great looking motor, I love Guards Red after owing both a red SC and a 3.2 back in the 80's.

I'm going to put my SS Dansk system up for sale soon so may as well mention it here before it goes on general:

G Pipe (long), silencer, twin-outlets (you would need n/s under bumper quarter), twin exhaust tips.

I just haven't got round to putting it up yet after having all the engine work done. The main part of the system has done less than 1k miles and I wasn't expecting to have to change when I had the 3.8 build done but I needed new headers to get the best out of the performance. The G Pipe (has done less than 3k miles) was just over a year old and the rest of it was a year old in May. The car was off the road from last October, over winter.

I would sell the lot for half new price if anyone's interested. The system is near enough mint and needs a good home. I can get some photos from Redtek where it is at the moment.

Cheers,
Paul

Michael , my stomach turned a little when i read that Pete had sold "the" car even though its been gone from here for nearly a year .. i treasured that car and still do , i am so pleased to see your enthusiasm and to be able to follow the story of YBB .
My oldest son recently moved over to Ireland , it seems the Emerald Isle is calling ! , that car is just the greatest thing , something special .
If you want any photos etc , i have hundreds just let me know , i had a G pipe on it and it sounds the business , i did around 40,000 miles in it without any trouble . here is a link to a video i shot from the car, it starts and ends with your car ! . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FD2XGYowERk Cheers Keith

Hi Keith, the video is great, I'm looking forward to some days out like that Very Happy
I would love to get as many photos from you as possible. I'm thinking of building up an electronic history as well as adding to the a4 file that PeterS passed onto me. I'll send you a pm with my details.
Your new Car looks great by the way, stone grey is a great colour and your wheels are spot on

Standard g-pipe replaces the secondary silencer and looks like a U bend connecting to the primary and standard tail pipe. You should be able to pick one up for less than £100 Thumb

ROS wheel arch. If you haven't got the secondary silencer and looking at the tail pipe if it goes straight into a U bend that's the G-pipe. Chances are it will have one.

PostPosted: Tue Sep 03, 2013 9:30 am    Post subject: Oil pressure Reply with quote

Hello all
In the spirit of everyone’s rebuild threads, I’m going to continue the theme throughout my own experiences on this thread.

So my first question is oil pressure????

On cold start up the car is showing 4-5bar. When everything has warmed up nicely the pressure drops to around 1bar at idle. Is this normal pressure for an engine at idle?? Question

Why I ask is that I do recall reading (in a buying guide) that good pressure should be around 2bar at idle – is this correct or am I being a paranoid newbie
I did do a quick search through the forums but didn’t find a definitive answer.

Thanks

Michael

I don't think idle oil pressure on idle is as high as 2 bar. From memory I think it's about just over 1bar. I've even had the red light flicker on, on my blue one and at first panicked, but after a bit of research found its not uncommon.

Quote:

The oil light coming on at idle is fairly common and there is no definitive answer for it. Even your owners manual mentions it:

"The oil pressure should be at least 3.5 bar at
an engine speed of 5,000 rpm. When the oil
is hot, the red oil pressure warning light may
light briefly at idle without endangering the engine

I will warm mine up tomorrow or the day after and let you know the readings. As you know, it's just been rebuilt, so we can take the readings a being what a perfect one should be.

Don't worry that's perfectly normal, mine shows excactly the same oil pressure as that, I was really paranoid when I got mine but once you relax you can enjoy, to be honest there pritty bomb proof!

Purely in the interests of science I have just taken mine for a blast.

When its cold, the pressure is about 2 bar. When the oil temp is in its usual place, half way between the cold and 8 o clock markers, it shows about 1.5. After a few miles of smiles I got the temp up to the marker in the 8 o clock position, and the pressure was about 1200 (the 1 bar maker was visible, but not black showing before the needle, with the occasional flicker down to 1 bar.

The hotter it gets the more the pressure drops.

Thanks Pete & Ian

I did a bit more searching last night and that's more or less the conclusion i came to.

think the excitement got the better of me on Saturday at Pete's as i just didn't notice what it was reading.
Embarassed

PostPosted: Sat Sep 07, 2013 4:56 pm    Post subject: Sunroof Reply with quote

A little issue with my sunroof today. After this mornings rain I got in the car for a quick spin. All fine until 300 yards down the road I hit the brakes and a nice stream of water emerged from the rear edge of the sunroof straight onto the passenger seat.
After a quick look i can only see side drain holes. Are there any drainage holes to the rear edge of the sunroof that could be blocked or would the sunroof need a new felt strip around the edge Question

hopefully someone has experienced this before
Thanks
Michael
