After 3.5 years and nearly 11,000 miles my beloved C4 has gone.
For a long time I really couldn't see me wanting a different car but for several reasons - not just the very real concern about potential IMS bearing failure or scored bores (no matter how unlikely) - the time was just right for a change.
To keep within a sensible budget I started looking at Turbos of a similar age and condition cars to mine but found that most were 70k miles+ and were just starting to have patchy recent histories. As is usually the case this quickly led to the budget being increased to allow the search to include newer and/or lower mileage cars.
Frustratingly my search was regularly impeded by me falling in love with the old C4 over-and-over again and for a long time I was 75% of a mind to just carry on driving with my fingers crossed and keep enjoying the fantastic car I already had.
A month ago I resigned myself to waiting another year and then, by chance, whilst casually scrolling through AutoTrader ads for 'anything under £30k' I stumbled across a car that hadn't featured in the '911 Turbo' search I'd done previously. It seemed like fate that the seller was a Porsche Specialist local to me that I'd known of for a long time so I thought it'd at least be worth a look.
An 04 car with 48k miles and fpsh was always going to more than I intended to spend but given that this one had recently had new discs, pads and a full rad set I figured that it made sense to 'bite the bullet' and go for it.
Polar Silver with Metropole interior wasn't quite the Arctic Silver and black I imagined but as soon as I saw in the flesh I was hooked as it works really well.
A sensible part-ex offer and an in-house 6 month/6k mile warranty clinched the deal and I picked her up today.
The 50 mile drive home - including a few detours for pictures - was only enough to form basic 996C4 v 996T thoughts so I'll leave the comparisons for now. Suffice to say I'm :cloud9: and :yahoo: .
:bye: for now.
ps. Thanks to the few people who knew of what I was up to, offered support and words of advice along the way, but kept my little secret a secret.
