I have the chance of buying a 1967 RHD 912. I'm going to see the car on Friday so don't have many details on it as yet. The car has all matching numbers and original log book with lots of history. It has had a documented engine rebuild circa 2002/03 and a complete bare metal respray with new floor panels and new chrome work in the past 3 years. It has done approx 109,000 miles. This is all the info I have at the moment but I was wondering if anybody had an idea of a ballpark value of the car?

Many thanks.

Is it the 2.0 engine with triple choke Webers :dont know: If so I think these are lower priced but equally £15k+ for something that is half decent.

I had a Guards Red LHD 1969 912 in 1983. Paid £1,350 for it. If only I still had it :pc:

Its got a 1600cc engine...

Best check with the guys on the DDK or you could speak with Max at Revival Cars, who specialises in 912s.

Got pictures? Bare metal paint, new pans, original numbers with no modifications. Factory original interior with 4.5x15 chrome wheels and a fresh engine. Quality range 7 to 10.

30K to 40K US dollars.

DDK doesn't talk much on the 912 forum. Go to 912Registry.com. That's where you'll get the most info.

Post some pictures of the undercarriage, suspension pan, rocker panels, rear window corners and engine compartment.

I very nearly imported a 912 recently, alot as you will be aware is dependent on the condition. If the car is as good as you have described then I would imagine through a dealer (LHD) they will be looking for 17 - 19. RHD will carry a premium in the UK and I could see it being advertised for 23.

There are some good cars probably around 15, you will need patience and this will be an import LHD. The big issue is rust and if the car needs work done then the restoration can end up uneconomical.

Best of luck.

Hope to hear of how you get on through the forum.

Your not going to get a bare metal painted swb car with new floor pans and a premium performing engine with matching #'s for 17k to 19k. That my friend is dreamin' A bare metal paint job done correctly with the factory color and windows, doors, hood/lid and bumpers removed would cost almost 10K from a shop that knows what they are doing. New floor pans would require new, correctly done undercoating if done correctly 4k. Refreshed top end, not rebuilt, motor 4k. A professionally rebuilt motor with Mahle P&C 8k to 10k. 4.5 fuchs will fetch 2k now days in good condition. Original interior with no issues has to come with a cost. If you get the car for less than 20k, you score. Just my .02. These numbers are a fact. A car with decent paint, repaired, not replaced floorpans, a tuneup and interior with only a few issues will get you to the 15k to 18k range. One thing I would say is if the pans were replaced I would check the rocker panels, suspension pan, rear shelf and battery box for rust. Only floor pan failure :?:
A swb 911 in the above described condition will fetch 60k to 80k. We 912'ers always get screwed. Flipping 912's for profit does not work since every aspect of a restore cost the same as a 911 but they fetch twice the amount of money.

How did the inspection of the 912 go?

I see a really nice looking car on ebay in black with red interior. Was this the car? It looks as though a few details to be corrected and it would be lovely.
