1997 Porsche 993 Carrera 2S

PostPosted: Fri Dec 28, 2012 1:04 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Congrats Zingers. I've always liked that model and it's rare to boot. Love the widebody looks. Thumb

If it wasn't for those pesky kids and the school fees, I'd be on the lookout for a '64 too. Very Happy

1993 Porsche 964 Anniversary

Yes I think he took it down today. Should be in for MOT Monday and hopefully when my friendly Indy awakes from hibernation he will get around to giving it a once over.

1993 Porsche 964 Anniversary

PostPosted: Sun Dec 30, 2012 10:59 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Hmm...........Some things are starting to come together:

1. Car was featured in Total 911 Magazine in 2006
2. Previously sold through Paragon (so at some point it was a good 'un)
3. Mileage appears to stack up (need to do some more digging)
4. Engine rebuild at 91k and subsequent replaced left camshaft
5. Pro Max Motorsport did quite a bit of work and looked after it for 4 years
6. Tracker fitted
7. Calipers should be black and NOT red. They were black 18months ago so need to understand why the change given the very limited use - Refurb?
8. Coloured centre crests belong on a 928 and not 964s Floor
9. Original stereo was a Blaupunkt Symphony Cassette-Radio so Porsche CDR21 is more recent (at least it has the yellow display) worship

and finally (for now)

10. Ninemeister carried out a Power Pack conversion (essentially a K&N Filter, Cut pipe, rebored throttle body and rechip) to up the power to 280bhp (I think at the time money was no object for the owner who wanted both an Anniversary and a 964RS sourced at the same time)

Let's see what the week brings Cool

Pop Corn spoke with previous owner who had it 4 yrs. All bodywork original down to the stone chips, crazing to front PU and rust to NSR wing.........

Slight lift to leather on corner of rear parcel shelf (water damage?) Previous owner recalls seeing a photo of plastic over rear screen so may have been replaced and water ingress whilst waiting a fix. Some more work to do and suspect I can track down that photo........ Smile

Mr Zingari

Its new years day (At least in the UK) In Kurdistan its not, or at least I dont think it is, the only good thing about today is United's demolition of Wigan and the fact in Kurdistan 3 o clock KO's are live and occur at 6 o clock..... and it was about 15 degrees and sunny again today

But surely time for photos worship worship worship worship to cheer a miserable old man up, whos only company is a laptop and internet that sometimes works......

Hold hard SB all in good time. I've been to that neck of the woods in winter. I'd advise you to get your thermals and oils skins out.

I can highly recommend the locally produced black rubber three-quarter height wellingtons with Aztec design (in gold) around the top and stacked heels. IIRC about $7 but think I was ripped off yet felt the need to invest in the local economy. Always a good talking point Thumb

Not in an immediate rush. Likely early next week. I may have it taken direct to the Indy for work to begin (on the understanding I get a photo record) but may have it delivered at home so I can have a tinker with it first and itemise exactly what I want doing now and what I may choose to leave for after Spa.

Car passed MOT yesterday - front drop link required. All brakes pads and discs replaced by current owner and presumably caliper refurb which explains the red Dont know

Edit:

Inspected by my Indy today (Thurs) with outline prices to sort rust (provided nothong else lurks beneath), spray front PU and major (plug) service.

Shhh.................Low-loader Tuesday Dont know

I managed to acquire a rear window spoiler/brake light already in Polar Silver which may be here before the car Grin

Now on a late 1993 964 are the high level brake light wires existing behind the rubber or will this be a delicate operation to drill a hole Confused
