PowerKit includes:

Modified cylinder heads
New camshafts
Newly developed variable resonance intake manifold with six plus one switchable valves (VARIORAM 991)
Central third radiator (non-PDK vehicles)
PSE Sports exhaust system (XSF) with specially designed twin dual-tube tailpipes (M176)
Sport Chrono package (M639/M640)
Dynamic Engine Mounts (M140)
New DME maps (performance optimised engine electronics)
Painted engine cover ("Titanium" silver) with carbon fibre emblem cosmetics

Circa £13,420 (but includes XSF, M140, M176, M639, M640 cost options)

That's a pretty substancial list of modifications...for Porsche it actually
represents pretty good value. That will go like a bloody rocket !!, I see
that the GT3 RS isn't now due till 2015..

Probably explains why 997 GT3 RS's are not changing hands very often this year!

I heard a rumour last week that Porsche may not actually make a 991 GT2!

No 991 GT2?? That's a shame, the GT2 is probably the most enigmatic 911, epic in every way except production volume...!

If the gt3 is going to be produced with 450 HP engine, that's only 20hp more than the C2 with the x51 power upgrade. No manual transmission for the gt3 :?: manual transmission available for the C2 along with lowered stiffer suspension option.
So what nice stuff could Porsche put into the GT3 to make their trackday toy worth the extra money over and above a C2 specced for trackdays :?:

Differences are reducing through the series:

996.1 X51 - 320PS
996 GT3.1 - 360PS

996.2 X51 - 345PS
996.2 GT3.2 - 380PS

997.1 X51 - 385PS
997 GT3.1 - 415PS

997.2 X51 - 408PS
997 GT3.2 - 435PS

Perhaps the smaller differences in the 991 are owing to exactly the same block being used in both Carrera and GT3; this was not the case in the above examples. However, as GT4 says, the GT3 cars are noticeably lighter in mass than the Carreras and this is where the real pay-off is.

Sorry, no diesel version (at least during Gen 1), Hybrid in late 2014:

H2 2011 991 Carrera and Carrera S
H1 2012 991 Carrera and Carrera S Cabriolet
H2 2012 991 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S
H1 2013 991 GT3 (450 BHP)
H2 2013 991 Targa 4 and Targa 4S
H2 2013 991 Turbo (520 BHP)
H1 2013 991 Speedster
H1 2014 991 Turbo Cabriolet
H2 2014 991 Carrera S Hybrid (although actually a 3.4)

Liked that power series, so I thought I'd make a chart too

I was thinking about having the X51 retro fitted, but I've got some of the items on the list so I don't think it would be financially worth it. :dont know:

Think I'll still go for the GT3 as long as the suspension is not rock solid.
