Hi, I'm just about to purchase a 54 boxster s and noticed the 2 centre air vents have broken so when you move the knob the vent itself doesn't move behind it. Also noticed this on another at a dealership last week.
Is this easy to repair and costly?
Thanks

Its a common problem on the early cars. There is a tang that sits in the back of the slider to adjust the vents and this comes loose eventually falling out. Look to see if the tang is still inside the vent , if it is , then remove it using a stick with double sided tape and then you have a chance to refit it back into position. To refit the tang you need to use a very small allen key and a pair of tweezers or long nose plyers. If you no longer have the tang , then a new vent is around 100 pounds from a dealer plus fitting (or 50 pounds odd from a breakers). Takes about 20 mins a vent to replace and involves a fiddly process of prising up lock tags which are inside the vent.
