I had been researching answers to your questions, but I am not sure why I bothered now.
 
My mate had his dog chipped, but I honestly don't think it's any faster than before.
 
I would research SuperChips, they at least warranty the engine for a year, or until the end of the manufacturer's warranty, whichever is the sooner.

As there isn't much to be gained for a NA remap (say 20BHP max), a VFM off the shelf map is probably the best route.

Yes, a live map may liberate another 2bhp over generic, but you'll be paying double at least for it.

If it was a Turbo, that would be another matter.
