I have a 997 C2S.Problem with my heated seats.Driver & passengers side not working, went to a Porsche specialist he said they had not been programmed to work.He said he did not have software to do this.Talked to Porsche West London they said never heard of this problem. But if that was the case it would be £120.00 for the hour + vat to fix. Also headlight washer not working & cd changer in glovebox not being recognised by main unit.Is this all connected ? Can anyone shed any light on this fault.Don't want to pay a fortune to Porsche to fix it.

It all does seem connected - have you owned the car when all were working? When did they stop working? Does sound like something with the PCM - anything else not working?

:welcome:

Assume you're not under warranty as most of the things you describe would be covered - on my old 996 I had a heated seat element replaced under warranty.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my interior light - unit replaced and it worked again. However, the problem has started again - just after the car was reset (battery disconnected). Have you recently disconnected the battery/had a flat battery?

Now my interior light wont go off when doors shut/engine started - regardless of switch position (apart from 'off').

It is suggested that this is caused when the system restarts an does not recognise all the components is should be controlling, and so does not factor them in as part of the re-boot (hence the comment you received about not being programmed to work).

However (and not wishing to re-ignite the 'do I buy a warranty' debate), my car is under warranty, so the magnificent folks at OPC Cardiff are sending a technician tomorrow to fix it, which I think is a matter of telling the system to control/enable the functions that are missing.

I would suggest you disconnect your battery to re-boot, but before you do I'll ask the technician about your problem and see if there is a fix that you can do yourself before you do this or spend any money.

+1 use the warranty

Had the car over three months.Noticed the heated seats straight away.As the dealer is a bit far from me he said take it to a Porsche specialist & he would pay.I thought it was a fuse or something simple & took my time. When I did I noticed the washer & cd & he told me to take it to Porshce.I have an AA waranty but they are saying the fault was from point of sale & I should take it back to the dealer. The dealer is saying the AA should sort it out.I know I should have acted sooner as the dealer has a three month back to base warranty.I just want it all sorted now without paying Porsche a fortune to fix.

Sorry to tell you this, but it could be the Fibre optic cable in the car if all of these are affected.

Does the car have a jammer "sorry I meant speed saftey camera monitor" device :D or anything else plugged / hardwired into the car?

My CD and Satnav would not work as the person had spliced into the fibre optics and it took Porsche almost 3 days to fix it and a few new cables!!!

I had an AA warranty before and they are very good if they are the Gold one I had on my Murcielago. I got plenty covered under warranty. Just say they have only just started as a problem, then have a quiet word with the OPC, as thats what "I may have done" with a few things!! :?: Also with that warranty there is a amount of labour charge they will only goto so you need to get your original dealer to cover the rest, and that way you might egt it fixed quickly.

I doubt you will ever get the CD changer in the glovebox to work.

No jammer or anything hardwired into the car.

Made a big mistake with AA as I said the heated seats fault was at point of sale. Now they say go back to the dealer & he says go back to the AA.

...becasue there isn't one in there?

Just had mine reset ('handover') and interior lights working perfectly. I'd suggest the only way to do this is to plug into the Porsche box of tricks, either at an OPC or at a specialist who has the correct device.

They don't fit the CD changer into the glove box, it's in the front bonnet isn't it?

You aren't mistaking the two CD storage slots in the glovebox as a changer are you?

Thats what I told the specialist why would I have a 6 cd changer in the front bonnet & a 2 cd changer in the glove box. :? :frustrated:

for all you peeps who have lost things like heated seats or something else ramdon stopped working,

THIS IS A PORSCHE FAULT

what happens in all this new fangled can networks is that from time to time the ecu's shuts components down hence no heated seats working and what needs to happen is Porsche opc or an independent with a PIWIS tester needs to re- handover your car to turn all the equipment back on..
