hi, I have a BOXSTER 2.5 (i know i know) ....and i was driving it home form work, as i started from a highland area i could see that on the left hand side of the road that someone was burning wood in their garden and it had spilled out all over the road. Imagine it like a foggy night.

As the car passed the smoke my 'CHECK ENGINE' light started to flash and then it continued to stay on. i Pulled up after a few mins and turned engine off to let it get rid of smoke. i started it again and the engine check remained on.

Parked the car and i thought I would check it again in the morning to see if that has resolved the problem, unlucky for me, it had not.

I checked manual and it gave me a blank statement to call my Porsche dealer/ service center.

I don't know about you, but in July i took my Porsche into service and whacked the whole lot on my credit card, took a big chunk to say the least, I didn't fancy the local cowboys tinkering with it.

Does any one have the same problem or has had the same problem, I would very much appreciate any suggestion or advice, my boxster is a 1997 model.
I checked this place : http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/1997-to-2004-porsche-boxster-2.htm it did give a few items that could go wrong, but what do you guys think it is?

Take it to someone who can read the ECU and tell you what the fault code means. That is the only way to know where to turn next.
