Hi all,

I' like to introduce myself as a new forum member. For a few months, I've been thinking about purchaseing a vintage 911 (late '60s - early 70's).
After spending countless hours on a range of European websites, I've narrowed my choice down to two cars.
Unfortunately, I'm not hindered by any technical knowledge about cars so, despite all the well ment buyer's guides, it's gonna be a step in the dark to some extent. Can you guys have a look at below links and see if there's any obvious reason so as not to buy either of them? Both of them have some mods, altough they seem to have changed the car for the better.

Your advice is greatly appreciated!

Candidate 1

This Swedish ad explains it's a European 911E 2.2l (155hp) from '71 with S-trim and S front brakes that's just finished renovation, had engine serviced and carburettors renewed this year and has got 104k miles. The engine was renovated in 2002. Asking £14.500

Candidate 2

This one - in a splendid color - is an ex USA 911T with an enhanced 911E engine (as above) from '70 with an unknown number of miles going for £17.000

Thanks a million,

Dries
By the way, what is it that people don't like about Californian import cars??

Hi Dries and welcome to the forum.

This is a difficult one and not too many people on here have a knowledge of the really early cars. The only advice I can give is to have whichever car you decide to go for, inspected by a specialist in early Porsches. It is very easy to buy a load of trouble and huge cost if you are not careful. For a few hundred Euros, you can get a comprehensive inspection and report which might be lost if you decide not to buy the car but it could save you thousands if you bought one which needed a lot of work done to it.

Good luck.

Welcome Dries, nice choice of cars. Ditto what Seagull said.
Love the Green one though. Good luck.

Welcome. I am with you on the style etc. of the early cars they both look fantastic [I prefer the red one]

You might find more advice on the PCGB forum

When you do buy one come back and let us know

Good luck
