Can anyone explain the service structure that OPCs use?

A minor service is £327, major £536 but then it seems spark plugs, fuel filter, drivebelt & brakefluid are all seperate service items. What do you actually get in a major service over an oil change then? :?

Major includes the plugs which is why it costs more, not much else to it

Are you sure it includes plugs? I would expect it to be the drivebelt and fuel filter too at that price!

Major does not include spark plugs they are charged as a seperate item. My recent major was in the region of £750 without plugs, but including a brake fluid change as it was due(every 2 years? cant remember RTM?+ some odds and sods like 3 new coils etc..

Plugs aren't included on a major, on a 996 plugs are done every 48k, drivebelt the same. Brake fluid every 2 years.

So what is done in a major service over a minor one then?

Plugs are done every 24k, 36k & 48k for pre '99, '99-'00 and '01on respectively according to Porsche :?

Plugs every:
24,000 miles (up to Model year 1999)
36,000 miles (Model Year 2000)
48,000 miles (Model Year 2001)

But no later than every 4 years

For the rest of the information you could always read the Service Book, all the details are presented in a lovely list!

Plugs only included on a major for tt and GT2 (then agaion the service cost is double that of a N/A 996)

ok to update on a 911 GT3 the 24k service does include the plugs but for that reason the menu price is £850

where as on the C2 - C4's the cost is £530 and does not include the plugs

The price difference is the labour.

Minor in 1.5 hours + oil + filters = £327

Major is 3 housr + oil + filters = £500 ish then plugs and other bits on top. Extra is the assumption that the engine comes out. No idea why they price it this way.

A minor costs not far north of £120 from a good indy, a bit more for a major.

Perhaps a bit off-topic, but come re-sale time, does the amount saved from having services done at indies penalise you drastically than if you had done them with an OPC? I bought my car from an indy; in the service book, there are 2 OPC and 1 indie service stamps.
