Mine have been removed, advantages/disadvantages any comments???

engine runs cool only about quarter up the oil temp. gauge but hav'nt been out in hot weather. this may not be optimum temp.

some say risk of damage on road bumps to engine base?

The tray is for drive by noise testing and a little under body aerodynamics and to stop the bottom of the engine getting wet.
Mine removed - yes it runs cooler - and you can hear the engine noises better. The system has thermostats to send oil round the front cooler anyway so the system is self monitoring and will always get to the state when the oil is hot enough.
Bruce Andersons tuning book recommends its removal so that valve guides last longer.
There's a minor amount of aerodynamic disturbance under the car and a low low risk of the engine hitting the road hump - but if you hit it a piece of plastic composite sheet isn't going to save anything and you will have to have been going very quickly.

helps on the 964, risk of grounding is mininal anyway

but not really needed on the 993
