Hi all,

I am new here, so not just learning! Basic question... just for a beginner. What woul dbe generally though to be the better buy:

A 964 with ~130k miles done but a top end rebuild at about 90k miles

OR

A 964 with ~60k miles with no top end rebuild done. This one is about 3000 pounds more expensive.

I have to make the decision whether to go for high milage with work done, or lower mileage which could lead to work in the future?

Thanks a million,

Adrian

It all depends on the reason for rebuild. If it's due to the high milage then the rest of the car's probably tired too, so you'll need to check the state of other perishable componants esp rubber bushes and mounts. 964 engines (or the car as a whole) are generally pretty tough and can take a pretty high milage without much going wrong if looked after well. Buy on the condition of the car at the time, and don't get too hung up about what the car was like few yrs ago.

in theory a 911 engine should last in the 100's without a rebuild, but these are 15+ year old cars

in theory the 1st car should be treated as a 40k car
