hello there.
After what seems like a lifetime of waiting, it finally - finally, looks like I'm going to get a Porsche. Sadly not the Guards red 911 Cabrio I wanted as a kid but a Boxster - which has pushed all my buttons in the right order. I'm extremely excited by the prospect to say the least.
Anyway - the web is the worst and the best place to research something. What has happened has paranoia has gotten the better of me now and despite having been an Alfa owner, I'm terrified about the reliability of the Porsche. Which seems rediculous reading it back. However - it's like having an itchy big toe, looking it up on the web and 'learning' you are about to die from terminal bum wrinkles. RMS, Engine exploding, etc., etc. I get the feeling they are reasonably rare but ...
Extended Warrantys. They seem to be a good idea. They look to be about £1000 but does anyone know the rules? Do I have to use an Official Dealer to service the car? Or can I still use indpendant specialists? How long does a £1000 warranty last? The Porsche Extended Warrenty seems to be most popular but are there 3rd party ones worth looking at? It all seems a confusing bag of snakes.
I guess it's a 'how long is a piece of string question' but if anyone has a indication I'd really appreciate it.
Also - independant Porsche specialists in the Cambridge area? Are there any?
I'm really sorry if these have been asked before!
All the best and thanks!
Will
