On the boring old drive in this morning, I was directly behind a red 964 Turbo on a J plate, so probably one of the later (last) ones. Followed it from Heathrow to just before Chiswick OPC. These old dears really are things of great beauty almost a work of art. Makes you realise that actually the following generations whilst technically superior cars can be aesthetically bland. Put the obligatory silver 996 next to this thing & they are like beauty & the computer nerd.

Made for a nice drive in anyhow

The old cars do have something timeless about them. Especially when you get back even futher in the early 70's.

Agree with Rob on this one. A wide bodied, spoilered up 964 is the high point of the classic 911 shape.

:D

Too true, the older wide bodied cars a glorious to look at, especially from behind. I find the 964 3.6 Turbo a particular work of art, just has a little something over the 3.3.

The wide bodied 993s are pretty god damn sexy too from the back, they just loose it a little from the front.

They do need a bigger spoiler at the back though imho. Followed one on the motorway a few weeks back and thought the spoiler looked a bit weedy against the width of the car.

I think it’s been all down hill since the 60's on the looks department but that’s tempered with technical improvements so it’s all about give and take
