Is my MAF on its way out?

Accelerating hard in 3rd and 4th to the red line I've now three times had the Check Engine Light flash for 5 seconds at me. Is it my car telling me to slow down? Or is it a faulty MAF, coil pack etc etc

Usually with a faulty MAF (one that needs cleaning) I get a permanent CEL indicator not one that flashes at me.

With a MAF the light usually comes on and stays on.

I think you would notice a coil pack - it shouldn't be accelerating smoothly.

hell yea slow down ! that message "check engine" is fairly obvious !

MAF, as a faulty coil pack means the car would be very poorly....

and what ever Ade means dont get a Mk1 GT3, Mk2's are the way forward :D

Under hard accelerating the light flashes immediately after a misfire, not a dangerous (bang) type misfire more a stutter and it's make to normal.

Yes.....I'm running on V=Power
Yes.....I've got a Fabspeed CAI
Yes.....The filter's still clean.....just about!

So I've cleaned the MAF and I'll give it another go!!!!!!!

What's this about GT3s? I'm confused I'm after a 997 C4S cab in SY with black wheels so I can coiffure Sundeep's hair on trackdays

Sounds more like a coil pack than the MAF.

But excellent choice on the 997 - sounds like a great spec! :D

If you'd have asked - I have done that for you. Plus if you let Kate drive, you would actually be scared!

Errrr, guys word of advice......

Don't forget to reconnect your MAF sensor after you clean it, my dash light up like a Christmas Tree, ABS failure, PSM failure, Oil Pressure bouncing up and down!

Needed a battery disconnect to clear all the faults.

Just imagine, 4 up, Karossell, everyone...including the driver hands raised high now that would be a picture!
