I guess the answer is how long is a piece of string!

Going to take the plunge and buy a boxster. Went for a test drive in one [well i wasnt actually able to drive it as im not 25 yet and OPC policy doesnt cover anyone under 25 - bit stupid if you have the cash to buy and insure etc but there we go] and have decided to go for 2 or 3 year old preferably a 987 model.

Going to spend about 20-25k so it will probably be a 3 year old. I dont mind waiitng but just wondered what everyone elses experience was and how long it took them to find what was right for them etc.

Anyone care to share?

sorry but

a) the oldest 987's are 05-54plates IIRC......so just hitting 2yo

b) very doubtful you'd get a 987 for the £25k mark........deffo won't get one from an OPC for that budget

I meant you could have been more subtle making the same point....putting forward the pros & cons of getting a Boxster versus a 993...before summing up with it's a girls car.....

...however a Boxster is a tremendously capable car....and no more girlie than say a 911 cab tip.....Oops sorry Chris

To be fair also the buying costs are only part of the story, you can at least still get a Boxster with a Porsche Warranty, which at least can provide some safeguard against maintenance costs. I can see why a Boxster would be a more attractive proposition for many than a 993. We tend to rubbish them a bit, but they are probably not much slower than our beloved 911's in the real world. And in the right spec & colour combination look pretty good.
