Had mine from new so don't know cost of retro fit but if it's not sill money then don't hesitate - it's awesome, especially if you disconnect the orange electrical connector so it's loud all the time.

OPC price is £1700 fitted. Bit rich, didn't know if Jan Speed or similar would be cheaper/better but was worried about non Porsche approved stuff and warranty issues.

997s didn't originally come with the sports exhaust option and when it became available, Porsche were offering to fit it at the factory fitted price (£1,150 or so I recall). Might be worth a try ...

not that hard to fit.... so in view of your statement it would be worth going down the oem route

I had PSE fitted to my 997 by a specialist last week.It was a cancelled order and I paid £900 including vat and fitting. It had the switch and wiring with it but that part is quite labour intensive(ie expensive)to fit and looking at various Porsche boards it is unnecessary as the vast majority of people leave it switched on all the time so I didnt bother having it fitted. When it is wired up it also cuts the noise between roughly 25-40mph.I would say the PSE gives the exhaust noise a bit more 'bark' or 'growl' but isnt so loud that it gets on your nerves.Incidentally I believe the PSE/non PSE exhaust boxes are the same except the PSE boxes have an extra pipe on them to by-pass one of the chambers in the boxes(there are 3 chambers in each box iirc). Its a lot of money to pay for what is essentially an extra piece of pipe, but it makes the car sound much better.

Do you have Sports Chrono? If it's cheaper than if you don't when retro fitted by the OPC.I know a few OPC's who will do a deal on the PSE if you are interested.
Cool I'd be quite happy to go to a non local one if I can save some dosh let me know

Thanks !!

Hi

As per a question I raised on 996 section.. Take a look at design911 they sell the Techart & Fabspeed.. Also worth a look at www.fabspeed.com to look at the 'explaination' vedio stream.. Seems there maybe good benefit from swapping headers too.. With $£ rates at nearly 2:1 good value ought to be had.. can even buy direct from USA.. There are other manufacturers, infact a pair of used (10K miles) sold on ebay a day or so ago at £480. It seems very easy to swap. Also worth looking at the Fabspeed cold air kit.. It makes quite a difference particularly on response. Rgds

OPC will charge less for car with sport chrno pack as wiring is conected to engine management, if no sport chrono a switch is fitted in console to work the system.

NOTE sport chrono car will only have sport sound with sport button pressed ie rock hard and raised throttle map, worth remembering.

So, thats a good thing I guess !!! As I don't have sport chrono my car will still sound good without the "knock ya teeth out" ride :D
I'll probably get the PSE fitted end of next month. Is there anyone on the South Coast got a 997 with PSE that would let me have a listen ??

Maybe a stupid question...

But does the Sports Exhaust make any difference in performance?
