Hi - need advice please.

I have a tappet noise when my 996(1998) is at normal operating temperature and at idle only.

The noise is not there when cold/start up or when at higher revs than idle.

Any advice/what it could be etc would be appreciated........

Mart.

Enough oil ?

How old oil ?

Wrong viscosity ?

Could be the tappets.
They are hydraulic, but do eventually wear I think.

I don't know, but I suppose if they were worn, then at low oil pressure (when warm and at tick over) they could allow a little noise.

I doubt it is anything to worry about yet.
