Ok as you all know I have been looking around for a GT3.
on my travels I came accross a black Mk2 with 11k miles 03 plate for sale near Chepstow, asking price £55k, near the top end for a mint GT3.
On viewing I thought a few things didnt add up, condition, repairs etc, and after talking to another forum member my suspisions were aroused further, when he said about a missing chassis sticker under the bonnett etc.
Anyway I got on really well with the garage owner selling it as Sale or Return on behalf of the GT3 owner, and he phone me toady and asked me if I had thought it over.
I explained to him that I thought the car had been a write off from Ireland, and bought over here not on the register and repaired, he said he also now had his suspisions, as I was not the only person to mention it, and as a result he had removed it from his web site, and was sending the car back to its owner.
He informed me that he had asked the owner several times if the car had been a write off, to which the awnser was the same each time, no it has had a small accident in the rear.
Anyway today the garage chap, got confirmation that the car had indeed been a write off in Ireland, and had been transported back here and repaired by the very man claiming that it had never been a write off.
There are a few things to take from this:-
1.Any sales outfit, should check a car thouroughly before putting for sale.
2.Any prespective owner should get a full check over by a professional done on any car that value.
3.Even then a good repair might not be spotted.
4.There are some very bad people out there, who cant be trusted, in this case the actual owner of the GT3.
Finally, I feel it my duty to make you all aware of the car in question, and if I had the registration I would post it on here.
DONT BUY THE 03 GT3 IN BLACK WITH JUST UNDER 11K MILES UNLESS YOU HAVE A SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION TO REFLECT ITS FORMER WRITE OFF STATUS & THE CURRENT CONDITION.
I hope that you would all do the same if you come accross such a blatant attempt to defraud.
The Sales outfit in question I wont name, as they having discovered said problem have withdrawn from sale, and given back to the owner.
