Its a long one, you have been warned! :)

you will all have to forgive my lack of technology, im a girl, love my car but also clueless! :)

I have a 02 boxster, i took it to the garage for a new clutch, brake pads and sensors to be fitted, all porsche parts.

Get the car back, firstly check engine light comes on, thenjuddering and black smoke?

Take it back the guy says "no worries loose connection on one of the sensors, its running too rich" he cleans and checkas all sensors get car back great, for around 10 minutes, light comes on again, no smoke this time but totally judders and sounds like its misfiring somewhere.

The gagreg have had it for a week and they say they have plugged it into the PC and it says "loose/faulty connection" though they have all apparantley been checked and its just getting worse.

It just vibrates when you start it and come to an end- like its gonna stall, and pulls and judders when you drive it, not good news, porsche cant see it for 3 weeks and i have no bloody car now as it will cost me around £600 for a hire car for this time, any ideas...please?

are you in the AA or RAC??.........if so and you have recovery then you could see if they'll take you there,or see if the garage that fitted the clutch will do a cheap recovery to the Indie

Check the MAF. A common problem that rear it's head on the Boxster/996. I think Chris (So Poo) recently had the same problem that was fixed quite easily...

Not sure if this helped but we had the same thing happened to out BMW the otherday. The engine started being very juddery and vibrating as if it's running on 2 cylinders. The engine light came on. Thought something expensive has happened but the garage managed to find the faulty ignition coil. Replacement fixed the problem and cost us less than £120.

That solved my problem, similar symptoms - although no black smoke.

MAF or coil pack, I had two coil packs replaced at my last service as they were cracked. They are about £35 each!!!!!

A MAF certainly is, very easy! Does yours still have a MAF or has it been moved onto Alpha-N? Coil packs are a little harder because of their location, you can see a couple of them under the rear wheel arch.

I'm ashamed to say I have no idea about these MAF's

I can tell you all about an air-cooked engine if that helps
