Hi Guys,

Just put a deposit down on a 2000 (W) Boxster S. My first ever Porsche, I have a few questions that you lot may be able to answer?

1) Do you need to "treat" the hood on them at any time to protect the fabric?
2) The twin tailpipes are looking a bit dull & discoloured, Is there anywhere to get some nice chrome covers or something similar?
3) It's done 60k mls, can anybody give me a rough price of servicing costs?

Thanks
Matt

Does the Independant specialist servicing affect residual value when you come to re-sell?

I suppose that is offset by the money you save on servicing anyway?

Matt, I used some metal polish from Halfords on my tail pipes (can't remember the brand off hand). They come up like glass with a bit of effort.

Was it Autosol? Does the absolute business on my Chrome Ford exhaust, not soo good on the stainless 911 exhaust, but still makes them shinny.

IMHO no it doesnt, once the car is out of warranty. In fact for the older 911 models 993 964 etc i believe its possibly a bonus as the indi's know these cars so well. Not sure if it applies so much to a Boxster but it certainly wouldnt put me off buying one that was serviced by them.

Matty,

like anything else depends who you use & probably who buys the car. To someone with no knowledge of Porsches a FPSH will be important, but sell to someone who knows a little about Porsches & use the right independent not a problem at all, may even enhance value.

And welcome to the wonderfull world of Porsche ownership.
