Creaking windscreen

Morning all

I,ve got that awful creaking windscreen problem on my 993.

I have spoken to one of the specialists regarding the PTFE Tape cure, but they say this does not always work and that the most reliable methord is to reseal the windrcreen after removing it.

Anyone have any experience of this procedure and any idea on cost?

They also suggested as a short term fix to spray WD40 or similar between the windscreen cover strip and the window, apparantly this stops the noise until the spray dries out, again anyone tried this?

Cheers

Morning Ray,

I've got a 993 Targa which had a creaky targa roof. I bought a small bottle of Glycerine from Tesco's for approx £1 and used it to lubricate the rubber components of the roof.

I don't have any more creaking or squeaking and it appears to make the rubber more supple.

I'd try applying the Glycerine under the windscreen seal using a pipette. The glycerine will last for ages.

My car had a creaky windscreen and already had the teflon tape fitted, solution was to apply vaseline between the windscreen rubber seal and the bodywork (not screen) = no creaking.

I've just bought some 'silicone spray' (safe for rubber-I wouldn't use WD40!)and sprayed it between the bodywork and the seal. Not only has it NOT WORKED, but it's left oily streaks across the roof and doors after driving the car.
