Cleaning the inside of 993 Headlamp

well I finally got around to it...

and WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT :)
.... although prob' how dirty the inside was !

my headlamps have been awful ! e.g. motorway drive up to the midlands at night = it is like I have my side lights on from old TT ! enough times I had to resort to driving with my fog lights on :(
just to see the road at night... on the motorways I normally just follow the lines..!

and there have been enough time when I driven onto an un-lit road and I've actually had to check to see if my headlamps were actually on !

well.. the headlamps were simple enough to remove (as we know) and a bit fiddly to open up (rather minor cuts on my fingers!) but simple enough.... just a case of opening up all of the side clips....

I can't believe how dirty the side was ! and how on earth does that happen ! after all the reflector and lamps were all clean !

the result was the headlamp were much improved (still no xenons!) to such an extent that it almost felt like I had my fogs lights on as well !

so cruising back down the m40 last night.. I could actually see where I was going !and a bit of headlamp re-alignment will sort it out fully !

a very recommended part of 'self maintenance' for any 993 driver.....

Sounds like I have to do it sometime too, have been putting it off thinking it can't be THAT dirty.

What did you clean them with Sundeep, anything special?

the lamps are plastic.. so just a cloth but I really had to give the insdie a rub to get make the inside of the plastic cleaner...

although when I cleaned the whole thing once... it was only the low beam section that needed a real good clean again to make sure it was spotless ....as that's the one that REALLY matters !

I'm going to have to give mine a right good seeing to when I get home... I'll have a go at my headlights too!

you'll have to advise if there is a difference !

I will do. I've always thought they looked a bit dim, but like you, the reflectors look fine so I just thought that was the way they were. I was also considering xenon's, so you may have saved me a few quid!

Incidentally Sundeep, why do you have 'pornstar' on your porsche badge lookalike icon? Are you and if you are, do you enjoy your work?!

Is it just a coincidence that an anagram of your handle is 'de penus', the well known german pornstar with the dodgy spelling!! Enough, keep the performace tips/mods coming Sundeep, much appreciated.
