Anyone had their clutch replaced recently on their 993? Any idea what I should expect to pay for a '96 C4 clutch and slave cylinder. I'm in Surrey but willing to travel a bit.

Any help/recommendations appreciated.

Thanks

Phone Ray Northway - Porsche specialist - just off the A4 south of the M4 between Reading and Newbury Grange Pl Grange La, Beenham Industrial area, Reading. (0118) 971 4333.

Good blokes.

Had my clutch replaced recently by La Rose (nr. Sevenoaks in Kent). Its was within a few quid of other specialists and using genuine parts. I went for the RS clutch and flywheel in the end as I suspected the DMF was dodgy, which put the price up to approx £1200.

£850 + VAT as per JZMachTech website. I haven't had it done, I was just checking for a 993 I'm thinking of buying.

I'm assuming it doesn't include a new slave cylinder.

Thanks everyone.

Has anyone used Parr near Godstone? they were very friendly on the phone.

By the way, and excuse my ignorance, but what is so good about an RS clutch and flywheel? can you have one without the other?

Parr are near me and I was going to use them for clutch but La Rose worked out cheaper. they are supposed to be very good anyway. The advantage of the RS clutch & flywheel is lighter weight with increased low speed pick ups and quicker revving, but you have to change the whole lot (including starter ring gear). The Dual Mass Flywheel as originally fitted to the car had a bad reputation for failure in the 964, and although generally a lot more reliable in the 993, they do go. the RS flysheel is single mass, so removes this potential element of unreliability. The disadvantage of the RS clutch and flywheel is increased noise at low speed, and slightly more revs needed to pull away smoothly (but literally a couple of hundred). Despite the noise (which is not obstrusive) the pick up out of corners is greatly improved, but I guess it depends on your usage or driving style.

BTW, i also had the slave done at an earlier time by OPC and its was approx £120 all in.
