has anyone seen the recent issue of GT Purely Porsche with the article about whether to have a late 993 or an early 3.4 996?

just wondering wot u guys would choose.

personally i stump for the 993 every time even if they are slightly over priced and 'raw'.

I agree 993 as a direct comparisson

I would consider a 996 C 4 s or Turbo or GT2 though

The only 996 I would consider is the GT3. Not the GT2 - it's a false pretender apparently and is nothing like the original GT2. However, Porsche has lost its direction in styling with the 996 so 993 for me.

0 - 60 in 4.1 and a top speed of 196mph in my opinion is not a false pretender for the GT2 C4s and turbo are quite handy as well (Factory Figure - we all know it's quicker)

, however I do agree with the the styling element as does Porsche to produce the C4S Cabriolet and from what I have seen of the 997 it seems that they are including 4 port exhaust and buldges to the arches as standard carrera's which was previously 'S' specification, whether this means an 's' 997 is so wide it will not fit on an autobahn or will never exist we will have to see.

Has to be the 993 as the last of the "proper" 911's. I had the choice recently between a late 993 and early 996. I drove a number of 996's but just found them a bit souless and, to be frank, I think the car is ugly.

This is the opinion of autocar, they didnt explain it very well.

Having gone to school everyday for the past 4 years in a 993, and now a 996, I have to say I much prefer the looks of the 996, on the inside aswell as out. The 17 inch wheels and orange lights make the 993 look a bit old fashioned(of course, this can be easily rectified, but Im just saying I think a stock 996 looks better than a stock 993) , as does the rather annoying switch layout. Ill try and get some pics of our C4(not the interior though, you might be sick all over your keyboards).

hey noony, how old are you?

also, i always thought that standard 993 carrera 4's came with clear indicators and red tail lights which made them look ten times better than c2's. am i right or is that a figment of my imagination?

13. I think thats probably the case, certainly for turbos. We had a 993 C2 though.
